Green Figures Bookmark

Nicholas Monro (1936–2022) was one of the very few British Pop artists to work mainly in sculpture, and his subjects came from the toy box and the comic rather than the classical tradition: sheep, reindeer, aliens, comedians, clowns, the Mad Hatter, and famously an 18-foot King Kong that stood in Birmingham's Bull Ring in 1972. His work is held by Tate and the V&A. Playful, deadpan, and entirely his own thing — that's Monro.
