Speks Crags

Regular price £13.00 Sale

Pour them. Pinch them. Watch them cling.

Crags are a tin of tiny matte magnetic stones, and they behave unlike any other fidget on the shelf. Tip them into your palm and they pour like gravel. Press them together and they snap into a single mass you can pull apart, stretch and crumble. Drag one stone through the pile and the others follow it. It's the tactile satisfaction of kinetic sand with the strange, slightly alive quality that only magnets have.

This is a thinking person's desk toy — quiet, endlessly repeatable, and genuinely hard to stop playing with once you start. It suits long phone calls, stuck-on-a-problem moments and the sort of restless hands that get nothing from a stress ball. The matte finish keeps fingers clean, and the whole thing lives in its own slim metal tin, so it travels in a bag or a drawer without escaping.

Four colourways to choose from: Jade, Indigo, Iris and Coral. Come and have a play with the tester in the Canterbury shop — Crags are almost impossible to describe and take about four seconds to understand once they're in your hand.

STRICTLY FOR AGES 14 AND OVER. CONTAINS MAGNETS — NOT A CHILDREN'S TOY. See the full safety information below before buying.

FAQ

Is this a genuine Speks product?
Yes — Wrapped! is an official stockist.

What age is it suitable for?
Ages 14 and over only. Speks magnet products are designed by adults for adults.

How many stones do you get?
Over 150 in this size of tin. Speks also make a medium tin with around 500 and a large with around 1,000.

Is it actually putty?
Not quite — the name is a bit of a tease. There's no putty or goo involved. Crags are many small magnetic stones that behave like a pourable, mouldable material because of the way they attract each other.

How strong are the magnets, and can I build things with them?
Crags use ferrite stones, which are considerably weaker than the rare-earth neodymium magnets in Speks' magnet ball sets. That's deliberate — it gives them their malleable, putty-like feel for mashing and mushing in the palm. They won't hold a built structure, so if you want to construct shapes you want Speks magnet balls instead. They're still magnets, though, and the swallowing warnings below apply in full.

Will they damage my laptop or phone?
Speks advise against resting their magnetic products directly on computers or hard drives, but say having them nearby on a desk is generally considered safe. If you're cautious, keep the tin a hand's width from your laptop and away from bank cards.

Can I get them in the shop?
Yes — and there's usually a tester open on the counter.

Safety

AGES 14+. NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. CHOKING HAZARD — SMALL PARTS — MAGNETS.

  • Swallowed magnets can attract each other through the walls of the intestine, causing serious internal injury or death. If you suspect any magnet has been swallowed or inhaled, seek immediate medical attention or contact the poison control centre straight away — x-rays and surgical removal may be needed. Do not wait for symptoms to appear.
  • Keep away from ALL children, and from anyone who might put pieces in their mouth or nose.
  • Keep away from pets — all magnetic Speks products should be kept out of reach of animals.
  • Use them on a table or desk, and collect every stone back into the tin afterwards. Store the closed tin out of children's reach.
  • Keep away from pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. If you have one, check with your doctor first.
  • Don't rest the tin directly on hard drives, laptops or anything with a magnetic stripe.
  • Independently tested to EN71-1:2014+A1:2018 and EN71-2:2020. These standards do not make this a children's product.
